My people how united I feel to them, how much I miss all of you when we are not physically together but I now that in the spirit we are together. To this new awakening I give thanks because with it has brought people, experience and so many wonderful things, everyday is a new beggining. Semign cacona guari, my people! But always remember that in our UNION is our strenght.
Yo siento asi tambien.

I feel the same way. I love this forum Guaytiao, that gives an opportunity for the people who live on the Mainland a chance to communicate with El Concilio and learn about their Taino heritage. Living outside of Boriken, far from our land, far from our people is rough. But at least thanks to this forum, Boriken doesn't feel so far away.

Spread the word, we are having two activities in Texas.

Taino 101: Taino Day - with special guests Los Hijos de Boriken
Aug 21, 2011, 2-5pm @ PRFDance & Cultural Center
------------

Free and open to the public. Always wanted to learn more about the Taino? On Sunday, Aug 21, 2-5pm, we will have a Taino Day with special guests Hijos de Boriken, a motorclub dedicated to Taino heritage, who will be riding down from North Texas for this event!

Los Hijos will give a presentation about their organization and mission. Tekina-eiru Maynard, our PRFDance Director and Tekina of El Concilio Taino Guatu Ma-Cu A Boriken will present her next installation of "Taino 101 Lecture: History, Myth and Reality." And of course, we will end with an Areyto! This Taino opening event of the season will take place at our Cultural Center, 701 Tillery Street, Austin Texas. Here are directions: http://prfdance.org/location.htm

4th Annual Taino Family Camping Trip, October 7-10, 2011!
------------

Every year is amazing and we will do it again! Each October, our cultural center enjoys a Taino Camping Trip for the whole family. As each year, we will fly Cacike Caciba Opil of The Concilio Taino Guatu-Ma-Cu A Boriken to Austin for a special weekend that will celebrate Taino heritage and give our families an "outside the classroom," experience in Taino traditions. Enjoyed activities will including hiking Taino style -- with mayohuacan (log drum) and maracas! -- Naming and Coming of Age ceremonies, 1000 year ceremonial old ballgames of Batu, workshops in Taino traditions, authentic Areytos (ceremonial dances), and more! Don't miss this camping event in the tradition we enjoy on Boriken! This family event is sponsored each year by Fiesta Mart, and many private donations.

Facebook has pretty much taken over...but we try to check in here once in a while.
